Mt. Moriah Cemetery
Mt. Moriah Cemetery was established in 1884. The first burial was that of W.E. Barlow, a nephew of William Draper...
"William Draper, a surveyor and land office agent, is credited with laying out the infant town (of Sundance). His wife's nephew, W.E. Barlow, was the first one to be buried in Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Young Barlow was killed in a riding accident near the present site of the Episcopal Church. Draper is also said to have played a part in naming the town as the county seat." -- Under the Temple of the Sioux by Mary Jean Wilson |
