Next Library Foundation meeting -- Tues. Oct. 21 at 1:00 p.m. in Sundance

The Crook County Library Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation dedicated to "encourage and administer donations, memorials and endowments for library buildings, programs and specific needs of the public libraries in Crook County."

Our Crook County libraries continue to be blessed by the generosity of our patrons and friends! This year we received donations for books/audiobooks, magazine subscriptions, and children’s programming.

The majority of the Foundation funds are earmarked for our individual libraries.  The Foundation has no funds to cover basic expenses for its day-to-day operations (office supplies, fundraising expenses, federal tax return accountant).  We are asking you to consider donating to the Foundation to help us cover these expenses.

Our endowment funds are required by law to be invested in perpetuity and only the investment income may be used.  In order to protect those endowment funds from the vagaries of the stock market, the Foundation Board voted to require a "cushion" of 21 percent of the endowed funds be in place before any dispersal of endowment income.  This is the first year we will be able to use the disbursement – it is earmarked for building projects, books, audio recording equipment, and programming.

Would you please consider making a contribution to the Crook County Library Foundation which is a 501 (c)(3) charitable organization?  Your donation is tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.

Thank you for contributing to the future of our libraries!

The Library Foundation uses private donations and memorials to supplement the basic services provided through county funding.  They add the "extras" that make our libraries so special!  Your gifts can be earmarked in several different ways:
  • Donation to a specific project or purchase
  • Donation to a specific library
  • Donation to the endowment
  • Donation to the Foundation to be used wherever needed

Wyoming Libraries Endowment Challenge

Thanks to the Wyoming Libraries Endowment Challenge, our Foundation has a permanent endowment, for the benefit of our county libraries.

In March 2008, the Wyoming State Legislature passed the Wyoming Library Endowment Challenge.   For every dollar that our Crook County Library Foundation raised, the state legislature matched it 3-to-1.

These endowment funds are required by law to be invested for perpetuity -- the principal amount can never be touched, only the interest can be used to benefit the Library, an investment into the uncertain future.
